ICBC is making great efforts to boost the strategy of "Developing bank by initiating human capital" and deeply carrying out a large scale employee training program in different levels, specialties and all along. In combination with united training and distance education, through independent training, entrusted training, united training and other forms, ICBC has completed training tasks for different positions for over 46, 000 times and trained 1,980,000 employees in total in 2008, and each employee participated in trainings for about 8.5 days averagely. As a result, ICBC plays an important role in many ways like enhancing the quality of the employees and guaranteeing the development of the business, as well as offers powerful talent guarantee and intellective support for building a first-class modern financial institution in the world.
According to relevant principals of ICBC, the employee training program in 2008 included 4 levels: management training, professional training, salesmen training and the first-line employee training. Of which, in line with the requirement of the transform and development, the management training was stressing on many aspects such as modern financial management knowledge, strategies of bank governance and development, leadership and execution, Party spirit as well as fighting corruption and advocating honesty, and has trained 112,000 presidents and vice presidents in different levels as well as senior managements. Meanwhile, ICBC was enhancing the cooperation and communication with famous universities, banks and research institutions at home and abroad, therefore it expanded the and methods to train talents in internationalization operation and management.
In order to build a professional team with high business level and strong ability of innovation, according to the requirements of the development of the business and product lines, around the important tasks like business innovation and development, risk management and control, applications of key technological projects and business process reengineering, ICBC's professional training program has trained 240,000 different professional persons in total during the year. Meanwhile, ICBC organized 34 united trainings about the attestations of various international professional qualifications, benefiting 1,700 employees, involving 9 major professional fields that all were accepted international professional qualifications and basically standing for the highest industrial level in the world. According to the results of relevant exams in 2008, 380 ICBC employees have passed the relevant attestations, among them, the pass rates of the exams of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Grade 2) and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) exceeded 60% respectively, far higher than average level (around 40%) in the world. By far, there are 344 ICBC employees holding valuable international qualifications like "Financial Risk Manager" (FRM), "Certified Information System Auditor" (CISA), "Project Management Professional"(PMP), "Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert - Cisco" (CCIE), "Business Continuity Identification"(BCI) and "Certified Information System Security Professional"(CISSP), and this figure is in the front rank of the industry. ICBC has primarily formed a reserve of internationalization professionals. In salesmen training, with the goal of lifting the practical marketing ability in an all round way, ICBC has trained 169,000 consumer managers around some business fields such as personal finance, corporate business, institutional business, annuity business, private bank, cash management and investment bank. In 2008, there were 341 ICBC employees through all exams of the subjects of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and the total number of CFPs reached 1,225, accounting for 25% in the industry in China; there were 2,696 employees through the exams of Associate Financial Planner (AFP), the total number was 7,779, accounting for 39% in the industry in China. ICBC was still leading the way in terms of the total number and the proportion of CFPs and AFPs in domestic banks.
As to First–line employee training, based on the standardized pre-position training, taking enhancing skills, regulating operation process and strengthening compliance consciousness as the main contents, ICBC has trained 1,637,000 first–line employees like counter tellers and business operators. Taking advantage of 2008 Olympic Games, ICBC has carried out a counter English training program for its employees distributed in Beijing and other Olympic Cities in China so as to enhance the internationalization service level of the first-line employees.
ICBC expressed it will put more effort to carry out the employee training program in the next step, further improve and optimize the structure of professional team throughout the bank, enhance employees' ability of fulfillment and innovation in order to forge an employee team with industrial advantage and international competitiveness.
